Baiting Hollow House
Baiting Hollow House is a completely gut renovated, single-family residence located on a bluff overlooking the Long Island Sound. New galvanized structural steel beams were inserted within the existing first floor joist cavity to reinforce the existing floor framing and cantilever over the existing foundation walls to resupport the offset perimeter load bearing walls remaining above. New tension rods were installed to tie together the existing roof rafters, and new beams and columns were selectively installed to reinforce the second floor framing, relocate stair openings, and create new and enlarged openings that take full advantage of the view. Galvanized steel stirrup connectors were custom designed to facilitate the underslung wood pergola framing.
